Description: The Battle of Blountville took place in the historic town of Blountville, TN on September 22, 1863. In its efforts to take control of the railroads and nearby saltworks, the Union Army initiated a major expedition into East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. In commemoration of the Battle of Blountville, regional historic groups and the Sullivan County Department of Archives and Tourism came together to bring this unique event.
